Back in high school Cross Country running was my favorite sport. I was Captain of the Iroquois Cross country team back
in my hometown. After high school I joined the workforce and got fat and lazy. In late 2008 I started dieting
and I knew once I got a few pounds off of me I could start running again and the pounds should come off even faster.
I
was right. What surprised me was how much I enjoyed competitive running. It started with getting ready to do the Susan
Komen Race for the cure here in Columbus, Ohio. This was my first 5k (3.1 miles) While I have run that far before, it
had been more than 30 years. I was pleased to finish that race in 29 minutes.
